HOW WE SERVE
Summer Law Clerk
Designed for law students who are interested in indigent defense, display characteristics of promising future public defenders and have completed at least one year of law school.
Designed to provide new public defenders the skills and knowledge necessary to become excellent advocates for those they represent. The program lays the foundation for new public defenders.
A three-year program available to any graduate of the Core “101” Program who expects to remain with a Gideon’s Promise partner-office for three or more years.
Leaders from public defender offices meet every six months to participate in management training, learn leadership skills and share strategies for improving the delivery of indigent defense services in their areas.
Teaches participants the Gideon’s Promise philosophy, model, and curriculum as well as skills and strategies for effectively teaching and mentoring public defenders working in more challenging systems.
Law School Partnership
Partnership between Gideon’s Promise, our partner public defender offices and law schools committed to justice. The fellowship program guarantees students full-time employment at one of our public defender office affiliates.
